PRADHAN MANTRI GRAM SINCHAI YOJANA 

  • Ministry – Ministry of Agriculture
  • It is a national mission to improve farm productivity and ensure better utilization of the resources in the country.
  • The decision was taken on 1 July 2015 at the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

Major objectives

  • Convergence of investment in irrigation at the field level
  • Expand cultivable area under irrigation (हर खेत को पानी)
  • Improve On-farm water use efficiency to reduce wastage of water
  • Enhance the adoption of being precise in irrigation and other water saving technologies (more crop per drop)

PMKSY has been formulated amalgamating ongoing schemes viz. 

  • Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) 
  • Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) 
  • On Farm Water Management (OFWM)

DEEN DAYAL UPADHYAYA GRAMEEN KAUSHALYA YOJANA 

  • Ministry – Ministry of Rural Development 
  • The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) announced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) Antyodaya Diwas, on 25th September 2014.
  • DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRoLM), tasked with the dual objectives of 
  • adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and 
  • cater to the career aspirations of rural youth.
  • The Vision of DDU-GKY is to “Transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce”. 
  • It aims to target youth, in the age group of 15–35 years.
  • Full social inclusion of the candidates is ensured by the mandatory coverage of socially disadvantaged group. 50% of the funds would be earmarked for SCs and STs, 15% to minorities and 3% for persons with disabilities. One third of the persons covered should be women.

DEENDAYAL UPADHYAYA GRAM JYOTI YOJANA 

    • Ministry – Ministry of Power
  • to provide continuous power supply to rural India.
  • The scheme replaced the existing Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana.
  • The Ministry of Power has launched a new app, GARV-II app to provide real-time data of all six lakh villages of the country.

Objectives:

  • To provide electrification to all villages.
  • Feeder separation to ensure sufficient power to farmers and regular supply to other consumers.
  • Improvement of Sub-transmission and distribution network to improve the quality and reliability of the supply.
  • Metering to reduce the losses.

Benefits from the scheme

  • All villages and households shall be electrified
  • Increase in agriculture yield
  • Business of Small and household enterprises shall grow resulting into new avenues for employment
  • Improvement in Health, Education, Banking (ATM) services
  • Improvement in accessibility to radio, telephone, television, internet and mobile etc
  • Betterment in social security due to availability of electricity
  • Accessibility of electricity to schools, panchayats, hospitals and police stations etc
  • Rural areas shall get increased opportunities for comprehensive development

MAHATMA GANDHI PRAVASI SURAKSHA YOJANA 

    • Ministry – Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs 
    • It a voluntary scheme with the objective of protection and welfare of the emigrant workers and to address their social security issues in Emigration check required (ECR) countries, was launched in May 2012. 
  • However, the Scheme did not get an encouraging response and the same has been closed w.e.f 1st April 2017 with the approval of the Union Cabinet.

INDRADANUSH SCHEME 

  • Ministry – Ministry of Health and Family Welfare 
  • Launched on 25th December 2014.
  • The ultimate goal of Mission Indradhanush is to ensure full immunization with all available vaccines for children up to two years of age and pregnant women.

Vaccination is being provided against eight vaccine-preventable diseases nationally, i.e. Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, severe form of Childhood Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B and meningitis & pneumonia caused by Haemophilus influenza type B; and against Rotavirus Diarrhea and Japanese Encephalitis in selected states and districts respectively.

Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 

  • To further intensify the immunization programme, PM launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) on October 8, 2017.
  • Through this the Government aims to reach each and every child up to two years of age and all those pregnant women who have been left uncovered under the routine immunisation programme/UIP.
  • The focus of special drive was to improve immunisation coverage in select districts and cities to ensure full immunisation to more than 90% by December 2018 instead of 2020.

Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0

  • To boost the routine immunization coverage in the country, the Ministry of Health and Family welfare introduced Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 to ensure reaching the unreached with all available vaccines and accelerate the coverage of children and pregnant women in the identified districts and blocks from December 2019-March 2020. 
  • This aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of ending preventable child deaths by 2030.

The salient features of IMI 2.0 are:

  • Conduction of four rounds of immunization activity over 7 working days excluding the RI days, Sundays and holidays.
  • Enhanced immunization session with flexible timing, mobile session and mobilization by other departments.
  • Enhanced focus on left outs, dropouts, and resistant families and hard to reach areas.
  • Focus on urban, underserved population and tribal areas.
  • Inter-ministerial and inter-departmental coordination.
  • Enhance political, administrative and financial commitment, through advocacy.
  • IMI 2.0 drive is being conducted in the selected districts and urban cities between Dec 2019 – March 2020

SOIL HEALTH CARD SCHEME 

  • Ministry – Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmer’s Welfare (Ministry of Agriculture) 
    • Launched on 19 February 2015.
  • Under the scheme, the government plans to issue soil cards to farmers which will carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilisers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs.
  • All soil samples are to be tested in various soil testing labs across the country. 
  • Thereafter the experts will analyse the strength and weaknesses (micro-nutrients deficiency) of the soil and suggest measures to deal with it. 
  • The result and suggestion will be displayed in the cards. 
  • The government plans to issue the cards to 14 crore farmers.

UJJALA 

Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All 

  • Ministry – Ministry of Power
  • Launched by on 1 May 2015.
  • Replacing the “Bachat Lamp Yojana”.
  • The main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduce electricity bills and help preserve environment.

Overall targets

UJALA LED bulbs

  • Overall target of number of LED lights to be replaced in 3 years – 770 million
  • Expected annual energy savings – 105 bn KWh
  • Expected reduction of peak load – 20,000 MW
  • Annual estimated greenhouse gas emission reductions –  79 million tonnes of CO2.

How the model works

  • Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) distributes LED bulbs to households at 40 % of market price
  • Total upfront investment and risk coverage borne by EESL
  • DISCOM pays EESL from actual energy savings over 5 years
  • No subsidy required from government
  • No impact on electricity tariffs

SHYAMA PRASAD MUKHERJI RURBAN MISSION 

  • Ministry – Ministry of Rural Development 
  • Launched on February 21, 2016.
  • Mission to bring about comprehensive changes in rural areas that have reached the threshold of development.

Vision – “Development of a cluster of villages that preserve and nurture the essence of rural community life with focus on equity and inclusiveness without compromising with the facilities perceived to be essentially urban in nature, thus creating a cluster of “Rurban Villages”.

Objective – To stimulate local economic development, enhance basic services, and create well planned Rurban clusters.

PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAY SHRAMEV JAYATE KARYAKRAM 

    • Ministry – Ministry of Labour and Employment
  • Launched on 16th October 2014.
  • To create an environment conducive to industrial development while also ensuring transparency in the labour sector.

The five main schemes launched under this included:

  • A dedicated Shram Suvidha Portal: That would allot Labour Identification Number (LIN) to nearly 6 lakhs units and allow them to file online compliance for 16 out of 44 labour laws.
  • An all-new Random Inspection Scheme: Utilizing technology to eliminate human discretion in selection of units for Inspection, and uploading of Inspection Reports within 72 hours of inspection mandatory.
  • Universal Account Number: Enables 4.17 crore employees to have their Provident Fund account portable, hassle-free and universally accessible.
  • Apprentice Protsahan Yojana: Will support manufacturing units mainly and other establishments by reimbursing 50% of the stipend paid to apprentices during first two years of their training.

Revamped Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana: Introducing a Smart Card for the workers in the unorganized sector seeded with details of two more social security schemes.

Shram Suvidha Portal to create a conducive environment for industrial development. The 4 main features of this Portal are:

  1.     Unique labour identification number (LIN) will be allotted to Units to facilitate online registration.
  2.     Filing of self-certified and simplified Single Online Return by the industry. Now Units will only file a single consolidated Return online instead of filing 16 separate Returns.
  3.     Mandatory uploading of inspection Reports within 72 hours by the Labour inspectors.
  4.     Timely redressal of grievances will be ensured with the help of the portal.

AMRUT 

    • Ministry – Ministry of Urban Development.
    • Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Development (earlier name JNNURM).
    • Launched on June 2015 with the focus to establish infrastructure that could ensure adequate robust sewage networks and water supply for urban transformation by implementing urban revival projects.
  • Aim of providing basic civic amenities like water supply, sewerage, urban transport, parks as to improve the quality of life for all especially the poor and the disadvantaged. 
  • The focus of the Mission is on infrastructure creation that has a direct link to provision of better services to the citizens.

Mission- The purpose of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is to 

(i) ensure that every household has access to a tap with assured supply of water and a sewerage connection; 

(ii) increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces (e.g. parks); and 

(iii) reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport (e.g.walking and cycling).
